Over the years and during pregnancy when a woman’s body goes through many hormonal changes the changes that are apparent on the skin such as skin discolouration and darkening. At some point in their lives a woman will notice that the skin around the vagina and anus will darken over time. A common cause for this is also said to be because of shaving the area on a regular basis but dermatologists and other skin specialist’s have yet to confirm whether there is any link.
Many people who come across this bizarre form of cosmetic surgery will wonder why on earth someone would even consider doing such a thing but for most women it’s not because someone will see these areas but for themselves. Darker women are most likely to get darker anal and vaginal skin surrounding those areas than any other but things like synthetic clothing is said to also play a part to darkening around the groin area.
Beware of bogus and scam websites that sell unauthorised or illegal skin whitening and bleaching creams and gels. As the skin around the vaginal and anal areas is very sensitive it is not advised to self prescribe a cream or miracle cure gel you have seen advertised in the back of a magazine or on the internet. If you are really embarrassed by your skin changes then always contact your GP as your first adviser. They might be able to prescribe a safe cream to us or refer you to a dermatologist who will give you further advice.
Internet sites will tell you they have the answer and show you before and after photographs of women who have used their creams but remember that it’s not all real and with Photoshop most pictures can look perfect! You shouldn’t be messing with delicate areas when you want to treat them always seek professional advice first.
You may find that there are others who have worse skin problems than you and simple home remedies can help improve the appearance of darkened skin around the vagina and anus without the need to use harsh and potentially damaging chemicals.
Home recipes for anal and vaginal skin whitening and bleaching
- Oatmeal mixed with honey and milk can lighten skin over a period of time
- Lemon juice with salt can sting the area but is also used as an alternative
- Sand mixed with a paste can help scrub the dead skin and replace with new whiter skin
- Basic body scrubs that have granules can also help the appearance of dark skin
Always start with mild forms of treatment before going n to more drastic measures such as bleaching and strong whitening creams, avoid all if possible because such chemicals are also known to cause skin cancer.
30 years ago large earrings such as hoops and other designs were very fashionable but as time has gone on earrings have gotten smaller and less ‘in your face’. Unfortunately many women have suffered a fallback when it comes to those large, heavy and unsightly earrings, and droopy ear lobes and stretched out ear pierced holes.
As well as having heavy earrings to blame women who liked to wear dangly earrings were also affected as children would like to pull on them as they find them attractive. The damage is not noticeable until sometime later when you start aging and the skin isn’t as elastic as it once was. People don’t realise that ear lobes will also drop as we age, skin all over the body is affected as it loses collagen and elasticity.
Ear lobes are not only damaged by becoming droopy but the pierced hole also becomes bigger to the point where small studs simply fall out. By wearing large earrings to hide the damage you only make it worse by stretching out the skin further and making it droopier. There is no quick fix to stop ear lobes from drooping, the only solution is surgery.
Fortunately nowadays surgery is available for almost any part of the body and ears are no exception. In less than an hour ears can be permanently fixed and within a month you can get your ears pierced again. Ear lobe reconstruction is surprisingly becoming a much more common procedure as many women want to look good and avoid the embarrassment of droopy ear lobes. It’s funny because in some cultures stretched out ear piercings and droopy ear lobes are very trendy and attractive but here in the modern world they are a sign of old age!
Younger women in their 30’s are now opting for injectable fillers in their lobes to make the holes smaller, this is the age that most women start to notice some drooping.
Ear lobe reconstruction
For severe cases where the ear lobe droops and the pierced hole is stretched a complete reconstruction of the lobe is needed. The area is anaesthetised and excess tissue is cut away, the enlarged piercing hole is stitched and filler is injected. The whole process takes around 40 minutes at an eye watering cost of £1,000. It takes around 18 months to recover fully but after 6 weeks you can get your ears pierced, doctors recommend sticking to small studs and light earrings not dangly or heavy ones that can cause further damage.
There are so many people who have vanity issues concerning their teeth whether it’s because they are stained, uneven, crooked or damaged through dental procedures such as root canal treatment sometimes the cost of repairing the damage is not only expensive but also scary. Teeth whitening are a very popular procedure but with the average treatment costing from £400 it’s still a lot of money for those who do not earn that much. The side effect are also scary, teeth sensitivity and enamel damage are the two concerns of people who want to have perfect pearly whites.
There are some people who have very bad teeth where they are very crooked that they just do not like to smile but the cost of braces and then teeth whitening treatment is just too much for them to afford. So now there is a new way to save money on teeth whitening and get perfect straight teeth with minimum fuss, cost and potential damage caused.
Costing around £900 including consultation, custom made snap on smile and fitting it would seem the longer lasting option to teeth whitening veneers and crowns. They hide wonky teeth and give you those perfect pearly white teeth with no discomfort. Although there are similar DIY kits available for you to make your own custom made snap on smile its worth speaking to your dentist and finding out more information before choosing a snap on smile.
They do seem dear at £900 but a single veneer can cost between £500 and £1000 so in the long term a snap on instant fix for £900 that will last years to come sounds like the better option. Also most of the population are afraid of the dentist so having dental treatment that doesn’t require injections and anaesthesia will be a happy welcome for most.
There are not many dentists that offer this service at present so you will need to do some investigating and research but for those that have had them done it has been a worthwhile purchase that would have otherwise been impossible to conceal stained and crooked teeth.
After extreme weight gain followed by weight loss the skin unfortunately loses its elasticity and in some areas of the body the skin will sag and fatty deposits will build up. No amount of exercise or dieting can ever bring back taut skin and in some areas of the body the fat build up will never burn off. This is the problem faced by obese people who have gastric bands fitted to lose the weight and new mothers who did not exercise during pregnancy.
Liposuction is most commonly used to remove excess fat from the stomach and thigh area by using a cannula to suck it out through a small incision. Other areas that liposuction has work well is the buttocks, back and even the face. Sometimes the procedure can go wrong if too much fat is sucked out, the skin will then begin to wrinkle and look worse than before. Some areas of the body such as the thighs may have a permanent ‘dimple’ to where the incision was made to insert the cannula for liposuction. Liposuction has been done on the knee and as it can remove the surrounding fat, but it cannot make the skin taut again.
Ultra lipolyse has just been introduced to England after the demand for this revolutionary procedure became so popular in France. The waiting list for people wanting this procedure grew so much that surgeon who discovered ultra lipolyse decided to see what the demand was for it here in the UK. Unlike liposuction lipolyse does not leave the skin with bruises after the procedure and isn’t so intrusive. Ultra lipolyse is a fibre-optic laser that is inserted under the skin through a small incision, the laser burns the fat and the body discards it naturally. The laser also helps tighten the skin by stimulating the cells to produce collagen; therefore the skin surrounding the knee no longer sags.
People who have undergone liposuction to the knees will find that after the fat has been removed further surgery is required to remove the excess skin around the knee. With lipolyse this is not needed as the fibre-optic laser will break down the fat and make the skin tighter so only the one procedure is needed. Like post surgery liposuction a custom made surgical support legging needs to be worn for around a week or so afterwards. The downtime for this procedure is only a day and you can continue with your normal work routine the day after. Exercise can only be resumed a fortnight after the procedure.
There has been a worrying increase in young unmarried women seeking to have their virginity restored. In many countries sex before marriage is wrong and if a women marries without her virginity then the new husband has the right to have teh marriage annulled. The woman then loses face in the community and the chance of marrying again is very slim. Although the women seeking hymen restoration are usually young Asian women of Pakistani or Indian background there are a handful of women from other backgrounds seeking this surgery too.
The surgery usually takes only half an hour and consists of the surgeon making the opening tighter, usually is reconstructed or stitched so that the woman will bleed on her wedding night. In some cases a new hymen is constructed out of the vaginal lining to create a ‘fake’ hymen, a blood capsule can also be inserted so when the new hymen breaks a little blood flow is present to make it seem real.
Plastic surgeons have seen an unnecessary increase in this surgery with surgeons charging anywhere from £1,850 to £4,000 for hymen restoration. Although no patient data is kept from the women who have had this surgery the surgeons who have performed this procedure report that 80% of them are Muslim women. In some cultures the sheets are checked after the wedding night to see if the new bride bled on the marital bed. It can cause shame if she did not and in some cases can cause problems.
The NHS has also seen an increase in women asking their GP’s to be referred for this procedure costing the NHS thousands whilst there are cancer patients being denied life saving drugs. It’s appalling that yo0ung women are forced into leading a double and if they choose to have sex outside marriage then it should be up to them to live with the consequences, pay for hymenoplasty themselves or find a man that is open minded and has had sex before.
It’s important for women to know that not all women bleed when they have sex for the first time, the hymen can also break from a wide range of things such as riding a bike, dancing, horse riding and gymnastics. If you use a tampon when you are a virgin then this can also contribute to the loss of your hymen. It’s nothing to be ashamed about if you have lost it through no fault of your own or through sex. It’s unfair that so many cultures expect women to be virgins when they marry as this is just not the case anymore.
If you feel you have no choice but to go through with the hymenoplasty procedure then please pay for it out of your own pocket and stop abusing the National Health System.
2010 has seen an increase in women seeking plastic surgery to enhance their features. The trend for summer 2010 has got to be the ‘dimple job’. Although the rise in women wanting ‘designer dimples’ started in America British women are also wanting to get in with this new trend. We all know how cute babies look when they have dimples and most do not grow out of them either, so if you are lucky enough to meet someone who has then it would be a shame to let them get away.
What is a dimple job?
This is the name that has been given to those who are opting to have a surgeon create a dimple on either a cheek or two. Dimples are extremely popular and there are many celebrities that have been lucky enough to be born with them naturally. In most cases they are hereditary but sometimes a child can be born with dimples even if the parents do not.
Dimple plasty procedure
Dimple plasty is the medical term to dimple job, as this involves a plastic surgeon and some recovery time there are risks that are associated with this procedure.
A small cut is made into the skin where the client would like a dimple
This then makes a small indentation; a stitch is put in place connecting it to the deeper layers of tissue
The stitch will eventually dissolve but the scar tissue will always remain creating the dimple
Long term side effects to this procedure are still unknown so clients opting for this should proceed with caution. Some medical experts predict that having dimple plasty to forcefully create a dimple will lead to the dimple looking out of place when the patient gets older and the skin begins to lose its elasticity and starts to droop.
In the US a simple dimple plasty procedure can set you back around $2000 – $5000 depending on the surgeon, area and if you want one or two dimples. In the UK a dimple plasty procedure can cost up to £6000, as this is still a relatively new procedure finding am experienced surgeon may prove difficult.
Varicose veins are veins that no longer work properly and instead of sending blood to the heart, bloof flows backwards causing it to collect in the vein. These then become swollen and enlarged and they are sometimes purple or blue and can appear lumpy. Varicose veins mostly appear on the legs due to pressure points when walking and women tend to suffer with them more than men. Varicose veins shouldn’t cause any health problems but in some cases they can develop ulcers and you can suffer from throbbing pain due to the varicose veins.
Treatment for varicose veins?
If you have very painful and enlarged varicose veins, then you may need to seek treatment before they get worse. Here are the current treatments available for varicose veins:
Laser surgery – strong bursts of light is shot onto the vein and in time it will fade or disappear
Surgery – the vein is located and tied shut before being completely removed from the leg, only a small scar will be visible
Sclerotherapy – the most common treatment for varicose veins; the vein is injected with a solution that causes the vein to stick together and eventually disappear
All treatment is not guaranteed and there may still be a chance that it may come back. By having a healthier lifestyle teamed with exercise, you can reduce the chances of varicose veins returning.
How to prevent varicose veins?
You cannot always prevent varicose veins but there are a few things you can do to make them less swollen:
Exercise – exercising regularly and concentrating on leg exercises to increase circulation is a good start
Lose some weight – this will reduce the amount of pressure on the legs
No not cross legs – avoid crossing legs for too long as this can stop the steady circulation of blood
Elevate legs – when sitting try to keep legs elevated above the waist to increase circulation
Sitting and standing – try not to sit or stand for long periods of time; if you are standing shift your weight around every 30 minutes and the same goes for sitting, move around every 30 minutes.
Stockings – wear elastic stockings for legs and wear the same for long haul flights as well
Clothes – try to avoid clothes that are tight at the waist, groin and legs
Eat right – eat less salt and high fibre foods; constipation is another factor that increases varicose veins and salt makes you retain water and swell so avoid too much of it and eat plenty of fresh fish and vegetables.
If you suffer from varicose veins, then you may consider treatment but changing your lifestyle is an important factor as well because you don’t want to get new ones after the other ones are gone.
When losing weight, one of the hardest things to get back to normal is loose skin. One common problem area women face after losing weight is bingo wings. They form when you lose weight but are left with sagging skin between the shoulders and elbow.
How to get rid of bingo wings?
Although you can lose the fat that was stored in the top of your arms, losing the extra sagging skin is extremely difficult. By lifting small weights this can help reduce the size of bingo wings but may not necessarily get rid of all sagging skin that losing weight will leave behind. The only other option after exercise is surgery; depending on the surgeon you may be able to achieve very good results from excessive skin removal around the arm pit. If the amount of skin to be removed is too much then you may end up with a long scar. An alternative is to try body wraps – these work by wrapping the area with bandages and you can lose up to 5 inches.
Ulrika Johnson is a recent celebrity who has undergone a complete body transformation including fat removal and arm pit skin removal. She opted for the skin to be tucked in around her arm pit so it left no visible scar. This I would say is the better option as it’s neater and you won’t be left with unsightly scars.
What are bunions?
Bunions are a deformity of the bones between the foot and the big toe; this makes the foot very painful whilst wearing certain shoes. The big toe usually starts pointing in towards the second toe causing the surrounding area to swell and it throws the bones out of alignment causing bumps.
Treatment for bunions
There are other options available for people who do not have severe bunions and these include: splints, gelled toe spacers, toe separators, bunion splints and bunion cushions. These bunions treatment may take longer but other that these the only alternative is surgery for bunions.
Surgery is only ever performed when bunions start to interfere with day to day activities such as walking and working. Recovery time for bunion correction is 6-8 weeks where the use of crutches is usually needed but depending on the type of surgery performed, recovery can be shorter. During surgery the following procedures are usually needed to correct bunions: removing deformed bone, realigning bone, straightening toes and repositioning bones. All feet bunions are different and surgery will follow only after advice from a competent podiatrist or orthopedist is relayed.
If surgery is not an option for you whether it’s because you can’t take the time off from work or college or bunions are not interfering with your life, there are things you can do to help with painful bunions. There are more and more places that cater for wider shoes – these might help stop the big toe from deforming. If the bunion is more severe, then shoe bunions might help. In the evening when you come home putting ice on the bunions, you will also relieve them temporarily – extra padding in shoes will also help take the pressure that wearing shoes can have.
Although bunions occur naturally, there are simple steps you can take to help prevent bunions:
- Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes especially if you will be on your feet for a long period of time
- Wear pointy and uncomfortable shoes occasionally and don’t wear them for a long time
- Try buying shoes with a larger width
Bunions are usually inherited, not the bunion itself but the foot structure that make bunions inevitable.
Chin plastic surgery is still not that popular as there isn’t that much of a demand for it, as you guessed it the only answer to get an aesthetic pleasing chin reduction is surgery. Although most people will associate chin surgery with reducing the size of it there is also surgery for a recessive chin (chins that are too small).
Surgery for double chin
- The procedure itself will last between 2-3 hours depending on the severity and may need an overnight stay in hospital before being allowed home the next day.
- An incision can be done either inside the mouth between the gum and teeth or under the chin; your surgeon will discuss this with you beforehand. If an implant is to be placed in a pocket that will be created from the inside of the mouth and will not be visible from the outside, this will usually be taped into position on the outside
- If it sounds painful that’s because it is, your chin needs to be cut open and the bone is then chiselled away or sawn of depending on the size and shape. There is a huge chance of scarring and even feeling disappointed with your new look.
Unfortunately there are some people who just cannot bear to look at their chin, nowadays when visiting a surgeon you can have a digitally enhanced picture of what you would look like if surgery was performed. This can be very useful as there are some people who would rather live with their flaws then remove then.
A well known celebrity with a prominent chin was recently in a program to see if changing their looks with computer software would make a difference. The star in question was Reese Witherspoon who had her face digitally enhanced (Reese is well known for starring in Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama) a photo of her before and after digitally reducing her chin was shown. The conclusion was although her face looked smaller she just didn’t look the same and people love her quirky look by taking away her quirkiness she just wasn’t the same.
Cost of Chin Surgery
Having chin reduction surgery can cost anywhere between £2,000 and £4,500. The following procedures are available:
- Chin reduction surgery
- Chin augmentation
- Chin left surgery
The procedures are very similar but they all have different risks and results, consult a plastic surgeon who will give you his opinion on which procedure is right for you.
